Pacific Regional Navigation Initiative – Tonga
iXblue was awarded a unique and interesting survey project by Land Information New Zealand In late 2017. The project was one of several components of a larger aid program being funded by the New Zealand Government’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade.
Fiordland National Park – South Island, New Zealand
In early January 2019, iXblue and Discovery Marine Limited (DML) commenced a joint survey in the Fiordland National Park.
In 2016, iXblue Australia performed a Tamaki Strait marine survey for Land Information New Zealand (LINZ). The Tamaki Strait is a busy waterway located approximately 25 kilometres east of Auckland, and is situated between the islands of the Inner Hauraki Gulf.
Doubtless Bay and Rangaunu Bay
In 2015 iXblue Australia undertook an offshore and coastal survey of Doubtless Bay and Rangaunu Bay, located southeast of Auckland in the Bay of Plenty region, for Land Information New Zealand (LINZ). The areas hadn’t been surveyed since the 1970s, so they were due for an update to improve navigational safety and to meet modern standards.
In late 2014, Land Information New Zealand awarded iXblue a contract to undertake a multi beam echo sounder survey of the East coast of the Auckland Islands, located 220 nautical miles south of Stewart Island on the Campbell Plateau. The Auckland Islands lie in the Sub Antarctic, are world heritage listed and managed by the NZ Department of Conservation.
iXblue, in partnership with Geoscience Australia and the Royal Australian Navy, undertook the complex challenge of surveying the approaches to Casey Station, one of Australia’s Antarctic bases.
In late 2010 iXblue Australia undertook a survey of the Chatham Islands for Land Information New Zealand (LINZ). The Chatham Islands are a rugged, remote group of small islands that lie 250nm east of NZ.
A key facet of iXblue’s operations has been high accuracy survey in complex Port Environments. iXblue has undertaken multiple surveys in the Port of Darwin since 2010, for the Darwin Port Corporation, the Royal Australian Navy; and as part of a cooperative program involving the Northern Territory Government, the Australian Institute of Marine Science and Geoscience Australia.
